SYNOPSIS (ENG)
In the 1960s, after 20 years of travelling through Latin America, a French-Swiss ethnographer disappeared from the map, leaving his film and sound material completely abandoned.

Juan Francisco Gonzalez (Chile, 1989)

In 2012 he became part of the documentary film collective MAFI (Mapa Fílmico de un País), contributing a large number of documentary pieces to the site mafi.tv and participating as co-director of the documentary feature films “PROPAGANDA” (2013) and “DIOS” (2019).

In 2020 he directed the medium-length film “Maria K”, selected at the Cinéma du Réel, where he won the audience award at the “Première Fenêtre” Festival, and a “Special Mention” from the Jury at FIDOCS. He has also been selected by Doclisboa, FIDBA, among others.

In 2022, his short film “Fantasmagoría” was selected at Doclisboa and in more than 70 festivals around the world, with multiple awards.

He has produced the short films “Cuaderno de agua” (2022, Chile) by Felipe Rodríguez, “Estallido” (2023, France-Chile) by Eve Le Fessant Coussonneau and is co-producer and co-editor of the fiction feature film “Through Rocks and Clouds” (2024, Peru-Chile) by Franco García Becerra, Special Mention of the Jury at the Berlinale.

He is a resident of La Casa Velázquez 2024-2025 in Madrid, where he is writing the feature film "El viaje perdido".
